  • Carrie Bryan
Experienced manager with a broad base of knowledge in four different industry settings: healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and journalism. I am eager to try new things and adaptable to a variety of cultures and situations. Spanish has been the tie that has bound each of my career moves together. In all but one of the positions I have had over the past 10+ years, I have used my Spanish written and oral skills to assist me in getting the job done. Writing has been another skill of mine that has been invaluable in each of my prior positions. The benefit of having this skill is obvious when one looks at my experience at the News-Democrat in Carrollton. But I have continued to hone this skill throughout my professional career through business correspondence and internal publications. I have an extensive knowledge of Excel. I am able to use a variety of formulas including Vertical Lookup (LOVE this feature!) and pivot tables. I have a lot yet to learn, but definitely know more than the average bear!

  • Nina Feldman
From VA League Member of the Day bio, 3/8/12: Nina Feldman, Nina Feldman Connections, Oakland, CA, has had an office support service for 30 years, since before the word "virtual assistant" was coined. When she started her business, clients brought work to her home office, where she provided tape transcription, word processing, and editing services. She is co-creator of the Industry Production Standards (IPS), the guide for how to estimate time on keyboarded projects such as transcription, distributed by Office Business Center Int’l (http://tinyurl.com/industryproductionstds. Her publication How to Run a Successful Homebased Word Processing/Desktop Publishing Business sold over 2,000 copies in the 1990s. Her specialty is helping clients connect with just the right VA or consultant to fill a task or ongoing need. During the '80s, she was one of the few people around who owned a computer, so clients came to her asking about computer repair, graphic design, accounting—and eventually Internet marketing and web design. She saw a hole that needed to be filled and developed a network of experts with varying skills and services so she could be a resource for clients in need of help. She is able to provide referrals FREE to clients because the service providers pay a commission, so she's there when you or your clients are “stumped” as to where to find any computer-related service, including: * Website Development and Design / Search Engine Optimization * Internet, Social Media, and Affiliate Marketing / Shopping Carts, Autoresponders * Accounting / Bookkeeping * Administrative / Office Services * Computer Repair / Network Support * Editing, Indexing / Document Support * Graphic Design / Publishing * Video / Multimedia Production * PowerPoint Design / Production * Computer Software Training / Questions * Audio / Video Tape Transcription * Sales / Marketing Support * Database Design / Troubleshooting * Project / Office Management She enjoys helping people figure out how to solve their problems, and as a result, other VAs frequently contact her to brainstorm when their clients have tasks they don’t handle. If you have a need—even if it's not on her list—feel free to give her a shout at 510-655-4296, nina@ninafeldman.com, http://www.ninafeldman.com
